The True Wonder of Christmas: the Birth of Jesus

Once again, the Christmas season is here!

So take a moment to allow your heart to be filled with thanksgiving as you consider the beautiful words from Isaiah 9:6:

For to us a child is born,

to us a son is given,

and the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called.

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Christmas is a very special time of year when we celebrate the birth of Jesus. However, amidst all the hustle and bustle leading up to Christmas Day, it’s easy to lose sight of the true wonder of the events surrounding the birth of our Saviour.

I encourage you to take some time to read and reflect on the events surrounding the birth of Christ. Ask the Heavenly Father to reveal new insights to you. Ask questions so that you can go deep into the word.

I was reading Luke 1:26-38 and realised I was skim reading the passage because of its familiarity and as such I was not getting all the revelation that God wanted me to have. I started asking myself questions about the Scripture. From this experience a study guide was create.

Here are three of the seventeen questions in the study guide.

1. Why does Luke say that Mary was a virgin, pledged to be married to Joseph, a descendant of David? (See Isaiah 6:4 and Jerimiah 33:17)

2. When the Angel Gabriel came to Mary, how did he greet her?

3. Why did he greet her in this way?

If you would like a to receive the study guide send me an email and i will send it to you.

Taking the time to read the account, and meditate on the miracles surrounding the birth of Jesus will have many benefits. You will connect with the incredible love of the Father which will centre you on Jesus. The Holy Spirit can reveal hidden depths of the truth contained in these scriptures. You will have a reprieve from the busyness of life around you, and the wonder of Christmas is magnified.

May your heart be filled with joy and wonder as you explore the scriptures telling of Jesus' birth.

Let me know the measures you are taking to ensure you operate with joy and wonder in this busy season.

Have a blessed and joyful Christmas!
