Understanding Your Identity in Christ Jesus with Bible Verses

There is a lot of talk about one's identity in the media now. Feelings play a significant role in determining who you perceive yourself to be and, consequently, what you achieve.

These feelings often do not align with what the Word of God says about us. We can dwell on the negative thoughts that entrap us and prohibit us from fulfilling the things God has planned for us.

Jesus knew who he was and the love the Father had for him. He also knew his purpose and what he was to do while on earth. This knowledge kept him focused, prayerful and able to stand firm.

Jesus wants us to know who we are in him, so we can be all the Father wants us to be and receive his love fully.

Who are you in Christ Jesus?

If I were to ask you, 'Who are you in Christ Jesus, what would your answer be?

What does the Bible say about your identity?

What has God said about you in prophecies you have received?

Practical Steps to Take in Making an Identity Statement and believing what it says

  1. Ask God who you are in Jesus. Listen and receive.

  2. Write down your identity statement using scripture and any prophetic words.

  3. Be prepared to add to your statement as the Lord reveals more to you through his Word.

  4. Declare what you have written our loud.

  5. When in need of encouragement, strength, courage, and when doubt attacks, read the statement, go to the scriptures mentioned in it, declare it and give thanks for the incredible grace given to you in Christ.

Scripture to Help You Understand Your Identity in Christ.

The following are some verses that may inspire you as you think about who you are in Jesus. This is not an exhaustive list. If you have other scriptures that speak to you, then use them in your identity statement.

John 1:12 - "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God."

2 Corinthians 5:17 - "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"

Galatians 2:20 - "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

Ephesians 2:10 - "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

Romans 8:1 - "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."

Romans 8:14 - "For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God."

1 John 3:1 - "See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!"

In Conclusion
