The Personal Benefits of Persevering in Prayer

2 Thessalonians 3:5
In my last post, I shared the testimony of how I prayed for the salvation of my Mum for over 40 years.
In this post, I will look at some of the benefits I received from persevering in prayer.
What were some of the personal benefits I received through persevering in prayer?
Love was my reason for tenaciously praying for my Mum.
The love I had for my Mum, the love I have for God and the love God has for her.
My heavenly Father kept asking me to pray, so I obeyed. I joined Jesus in his intercession for my Mum.
Through praying for her, I went on a journey with God. I forgave her for the things she had done that had caused me pain, things that she probably wasn't even aware of that had hurt me.
I forgave her for choosing the New Age beliefs rather than the truth of Jesus.
I stood in the gap as a member of the church and asked her for forgiveness on behalf of the church that had hurt her so deeply in her younger days.
Praying for my Mum kept my heart in the right place so I could serve her joyfully. God had to speak to me when I started complaining and having a poor attitude, resulting in repentance, the restoration of joy, and a right heart.
I got to break all unhealthy soul ties I had with my Mum, releasing her and myself from things that had become a stronghold in our lives.
When Mum died, I was filled with the peace of Jesus that surpasses our understanding and with thanksgiving for my Mum's life, for the time I had spent with her and for the opportunity I had to pray for her.
Hearing my heavenly Father say, "Rosanne, well done. You have been a good and faithful daughter. You have finished the mission I gave you regarding your Mum" were words that brought peace and joy to my heart.
f that wasn't enough, the Lord gave me the song "Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine" shortly after she died. How faithful is our God when we preserve in prayer.
